We’ve got an exciting announcement: The new version of WP Highrise Contact Plugin is here!

If you haven’t tried this program, you should. You’ll love it. This plugin integrates seamlessly Wordpress with 37signals’ Highrise web-based CRM to make tracking your leads, contacts, and opportunities even easier!

What makes Highrise really great is its simplistic user interface. You’ll be amazed at how something so easy to use can do so much. I know we were. And if there’s something you wish it did, you’ll find a number of extras and add-ons for everything from Freshbooks and MailChimp to ZenDesk and Pulse. ‘There’s an app for that as well. An iPhone app, that is.

(As for WordPress, really, it doesn’t need any introduction. It’s THE blogging platform for the web, so if you haven’t tried it, but would like to, you can find it free at Wordpress.com.)

This version of the WP Highrise Plugin is mainly a bug fix release, but we did add a few goodies. In particular, we think you’ll love the PHP version checker we added right into the plugin’s settings. You see, this plugin was created specifically for PHP 5, which means it can’t work with PHP4. So, if you do install the program on a PHP4 server, you’ll get an error message to let you know. It should save you a lot of troubleshooting time.

What’s Next For WP Highrise Contact?

We’re currently working on version 2.0 of our plugin, which will include new features such as multiple form capability. Once it’s up and running, you’ll be able to run as many forms as you need and customize them with messages, tags, and categories. This is contact management and CRM the way it was meant to be!

INBOX Role

As many of our clients do, Mark Deaton, co-founder of Third Sector Connector contacted us because they were in need of XOOPS expertise. Their site was already setup. All it needed was a module that would manage the communities, the projects, and more importantly, the payment system. This is the center of their site’s functionality, so it had to be just right and there was nothing suitable on the market at the time.

Someone would have to build one.

No problem for INBOX! We know XOOPS in and out, so there’s nothing we can’t do with it! We got started by developing a completely custom module from scratch to manage those features, and we’re pretty proud of the result!

Called GetLocal, the module is simply outstanding and completely (and easily!) extendable. The payment system is integrated with Paypal and includes a complete subscription-based system, which allows anyone to buy, upgrade or cancel any package, at any time. GetLocal is also tightly integrated with CBB, a forums module, as well as the calendar module extCal to provide extra integrated features to communities managed by the GetLocal module. It’s easily the most complex module we’ve built so far.

Here’s a typical scenario: you want to motivate your employees and encourage them to generate more sales, so you give them points through the I Love Rewards program. Then, employees can log onto the online boutique and exchange their points for amazing products like iPods, Visa cards, DVD players, and many other great products from an online catalog, which consists of more than 800 products.

But, this isn’t the only thing that makes this company truly remarkable…

The first time I set foot in I Love Rewards’ Toronto headquarters I was impressed, and I’m hardly ever impressed by something or someone. Their office made me instantly feel at home with its single, large, open space and beautiful old brick walls. You could feel the warmth,  passion, and an enthusiasm in the air that was truly contagious. Then, when I met the people behind this great company, it sealed the deal. I was even more impressed with them!

But what does this plugin really do ? It allows you to use the shortcode [wp-highrise-contact] on any page post. When displayed, the shortcode will be replaced by an actual contact form. You can see an example on our very site: Contact us!

Then, when someone fills out the form, a few things will happen:

• A new contact will be created on Highrise
• A new note will be added to this contact, with the content of the message from the contact form
• A task will be created, linked to this note, assigned to a member of your organization, set to be completed in the next 24 hours
• An email notification will be sent to your email to let you know a new contact has been created.
